  1. Hi Simon,

Thank you for posting these 🙂 Were these particular All-Japan championships held at that one famous Budokan (of Beatles and Cheap Trick fame) near the Imperial Palace in Tokyo? Are any championships with “All Japan” in the name always at that Budokan (like with Kendo), or do they also go to other Budokan?

Do you know where I can find the names of the Tankendoka in each of these matches, and the results of their matches? I’d like to go see if they have other matches posted online for study, esp. the champions. If the only links are in Japanese, that’s fine; while I’m unable to read Japanese, I can use Google Translate and copy and paste the kanji I need into YouTube.

I also have another more technical question. The Tankendo Kamae looks a lot more like Hanmi rather than the squared-shoulders Kendo Kamae. Is the Fumikomi thus more like in Jukendo than like in Kendo? That’s the way it looks to me, but I still have an untrained eye and figure you’d be a better judge of it than I.

Thank you very much, Simon, and have a great week. While I look most forward to your Theory videos, I also find your shiai videos so valuable, esp. when you write insightful commentary.
